I know centuries ago there wasn't rabbit pellets. I'm curious does anyone make their own rabbit feed or just use the pellets?

When I had rabbits I just gave them the pellets but I don’t speak for everybody. :)

We feed Chaffahaye and a lot of garden like foods and feed pellet when needed, but looked into making our own feed blend this is what we found..but have not tried it yet.

My Homemade Natural Grain Based Rabbit Food Recipe:

    • 6 cups rolled oats
    • 3 cups golden wheat berries
    • 3 cups pearled barley
    • 3 cups hard red wheat berries
    • 3 cups split peas
    • 3 cups black oil sunflower seed
    • Plus hay/alfafa

I only ever used the pellets too, but if I were to have them again I would also make sure they got plenty of hay.

We just have pet rabbits but I feed them the alfalfa pellets I feed the goats, plus grass hay and veggie scraps.
