Does this look like CL?

Well, long time no see, friends! Been a minute since I've posted. I went out today to hang with 3 of my goats who are in their own pen, and I noticed a small lump with a scab over it on my doe, Xena. To me, it looks like an infected bug bite and we have a lot of ticks in the area, but the location of the bump gave me pause. There's no pus to test, but I was considering having a vet over to blood test her to be safe.

She's rooming with two other "strictly pet" goats so she's already away from my breeding animals. We haven't come in contact with any goats off the farm, and I have shoes that are only for my property to try to maintain some biosecurity. All of our animals have come from tested herds, but I still know sometimes these things can pop up.

Was hoping to catch some opinions on it. The area around it looks wet since I cleaned it off to look for any pus and to clean it in case it is an infected bite.

Unfortunately the pictures don't show up for me but I'm on the app. Good to see you again! It has been a long time!

Of course now they show. I bet it is just a bite.

It has been a long time! It's good to see you again as well! I hope all has been well for you.

I am leaning towards a bite with some swelling, but figured I'd post to people with more experience. I don't want to be lackadaisical about it if it's something I should treat more seriously.
It is a CL location..hard to really see but looks like a burst cyst. You know testing pus if it comes back is the only way to know.

Welcome back by the way!!!

Thanks, Cathy! Yeah, the location has me nervous. I haven't seen CL in person, so I'm not sure if it looks like CL or not, other than the location. There's no pus to test, but I'm wondering if I should have her blood tested.

Edit: I did end up shooting our vet an email with the pictures to ask her opinion and set up blood testing. I'm pretty sure it's a bug bite or splinter, but I don't want to convince myself it's nothing if it does need to be looked into.
I wouldn't sweat it unless she gets another one. Not all cyst are CL and without being able to test, and it's clean now, I would just just keep the area clean and allow it to heal.

I took another close look this morning and cleaned her up some more. Pretty positive it's a bug bite at this point. Vet got back to me and doesn't feel testing is necessary, so I'm going to keep an eye on her but feel pretty confident that she's okay. Phew!

Glad it is just a big bite!

Something must have really gotten her. We have wasps too, so it could have been a sting. Either way, I'm relieved.

Hi, great to see you back! I've had a strange year with odd lumps, turns out, the goofy silly goats are rubbing their faces on an
old weathered board, getting splinters that are absessessing, right by the cheek and also on chins! Board is now gone.
After testing 3 for CL, we started looking around- (its an old cow barn, with an add on for the beef cattle, years ago. One area
had an old wooden fence). Yours looks like a splinter or insect bite of some kind.

Hi, Goats Rock! Come to think of it, she loves to rub on the wooden board that supports their hay feeder. I might want to check it out and see if it needs to be replaced.
