Dog like poop - new guy

246 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Tanya
Got a year old fixed male a week and half ago. Previous owner said she just changed hay - that's why funny poop - her other goats were fine.
He's fine otherwise but still dog like poop. How long do I wait if it is just new home/food ?
Or how long before I call vet ? This is only our 3rd goat.

Consider having a fecal test done to be on the safe side, because sometimes the stress from a relocation can cause a parasite bloom. Would you by any chance have any information regarding whether or not he has been dewormed recently or approximately how long ago? Has his diet, including hay, browse type and/ or feed brands changed since coming to live at your place?

Welcome to the goat spot family. Definitely get a fecal done just to be sure all is good there. Give him some probiotics in the mean time. And just so you know. We enjoy pix....alot lol

Best wishes

He eats hay and grass with us. The previous owner said she had just changed hay right before we got him and that was the reason for his poop. She also said he had got his booster of cd & t this year.

Doggy poop can be an indicator for worm load. Goats are worse than 1 year old children when it comes to routine changes. As hardy as they are subtle changes in their lives cause huge changes in ours. I would also recommend a fecal
