I have not had much luck getting a vet to identify worm load for my goats. Vets keep saying no worms but wormers work to make them look better and gain weight. I have watched you tube videos and it seems fairly straightforward. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you used any of the mail in labs for your fecal test before? Have seen copies of some of the test results posted on here before and the test results were very thorough. What type of worm is most prevalent in your herd?

Doing fecals at home is not hard. Its saves you alot if money. You can purchase a really nice microscope for under $200.. the Mcmaster slide is very important. It has columns ,so its an easier way to count the worms. There are several worm charts to look at. Once you do it, its gets easier. Most of my does have about 3 types of worms. I have learned what to watch for and to stay on top of the worm load before it causes more severe problems. I like doing my own fecals.

This is a good reference.

I bought a used microscope that happened to have a microscope camera. I love it.
The McMaster slides make the process a lot faster.

Thank you for all the help. I would not have thought of the camera but have seen them for sale . The link was very good. I found the method of obtaining the sample interesting. My small animal vet had me do this and discovered coccidia and worms which I am sure saved my goats life. Thanks again.
