I cannot believe she only had one! Dolly was so incredibly huge I was certain there would be more than one. But at least it is a healthy DOE :leap: :leap: :leap:

This is the second kid from my new buck - Timber's Pride. Both seemed to be very big kids, but the mommas seem to be doing well. They were both first timers. Should I be concerned about continuing to use him as a herdshire?

What a beautiful boy!! It definately is not abnormal for a FF to have a single. So I wouldn't be to worried about that. And then when you have a single, they are almost always pretty darn big, as they got all the groceries from momma

COngrats on the doeling! yes she is big!

the number of kids is determined mostly by the doe - and a lot of first timers only have 1 which causes the kid to be rather large. I would give him a chance with some Second or third freshioners and since the does had no trouble I wouldnt be to concerned.

Thanks and thank you for the reassurance! Pride was only 9 months old when he bred the girls, so I was concerned I didn't wait long enough to judge his. :? whatever it is you're supposed to judge in a herdshire on other than his bloodlines and confirmation.

Adorable little fluffball! Congrats on a doeling

I would use him again...see how big the kids are when theres twins and with 2nd and 3rd fresheners, 9 out of 10 they will be "normal" sized as Allison said...singles get ALL the groceries
