We have two kids we waited too long to disbud so we have to surgically dehorn them. They are Nubian kids, a buckling and doeling. Their mothers breeder (our main person who we ask for advice) says we have to wait a year to get it done. She had to go before we could ask why. Something to do with Anesthetic. Why is this? Is she just cautious, and can we do it earlier? We really want to sell the buckling as soon as possible, but are willing to wait however long it takes. We are selling him when he is hornless.

Also, about how much would it cost?

I've had young goats surgically dehorned. They may be more sensitive to the anesthesia but I don't see why it can't be done sooner than a year:confused:

I would ask your vet about that just to make sure:)
