For those of you with horned goats, are the horns of wethers the same size as those of bucks or will the lack of hormones prevent them from getting as thick/large?

Wethers horns are smaller than a bucks, similar to a does in size.

The people buying the boys like horns, but I get the impression the smaller the better. We had planned to band them at 7-8 weeks . . . do you think banding them sooner would have any impact on final horn size? I don't want to band them too early after reading about urinary calculi.

The longer they are a BUCK, the bigger the horns will be. I band my boys at 10-12 weeks, and there horns are no where the size of the bucks to say the least. A week or two will not make a big deal.
