Excuse my ignorance......but how do you judge the condition on a goat? I'm trying to decide if one of my boys is to thin!

I feel the spine between the ribs and hindquarters. If I can feel the "shark teeth" then usually not too fat, but if they are very defined they need more feed(does that ever happen  )
Its kind of a guesstimate, but it has worked so far.

I do that same as others but I was told, with dairy goats, that you should be able to feel the ribs but not see them through the hair coat.

Thanks Pam for the website info :thumb: ......it helped a lot, pics for me to look at. So I believe I have one boy that is 2.5 and one that is a 3.......I should probably be more worried about the 3 getting tooooo fat  !
