Hello there again! I seem to have very little time to post on forums given my hectic work schedule :)

Anyway... one of Whisper's kids (now 9 months old ish???) is 90% likely to be pregnant (by it's father OOPS) and I'm wondering what the best way to feed her is...

At the moment she is approximately 1 month in kid (if indeed she is). I have never had a kid in kid before - earliest I kid them is their 2nd year. I dont want to feed her too much... but dont want her to get sick on too little either.

She is a Saanen doeling, well grown (biggest of the 3 actually), and, if I recollect rightly, was born on 25 March. I THINK. *scratches head*.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially by people who have fullsize goats, as feeding for minis is different (although obviously not wrong for minis!)

    Thanks a bunch

Many people breed a 9 months old, The real question is how much does she weigh? Its best to breed a full size dairy goat at no less then 80-90lbs. But at 9 months old she should be in that rage, All mine are.

As far as feed I dont know how to help, Sorry.

    dont over feed thats important.

Feed her as if you would any other pregnant goat -- she will continue to grow while in her pregnancy

I would do what Stacey says, feed her like any other pregnant doe. Many people breed their does for the first time around the time frame in which yours got pregnant, and as long as she is well grown and not stunted she should have a completely normal pregnancy.

My saanen doe was born February '09, and kidded for a March '10 baby...she's still growing like a weed, is 2 months pregnant, and hasn't had any complications from being bred so young. So, really, I wouldn't worry about her being bred now, so long as she's a good weight. Feed her like any other doe, like everyone else has already said, and everything should go fine.

We have had little accidents, whereby kids of 4½ and 6 months old have been impregnated. We did not pay any special attention to their diets, and their pregnancies and kiddings were normal.
