How long do I need to keep my goats out of my pasture once I put down fertilizer? I need to fertilize this weekend.. I planted all new grass last fall and it's barely coming in. thanks everyone. nathan
what kind of fertilizer is it? never really thought about fertilizer being an issue - I know you should wait till a good rain with weed killers and such.
Urea 80-0-0.. pretty much pure nitrogen. The guy at IFA said we have plenty of sodium here from the great salt lake so what we need for grass and pastures to grow is pure nitrogen. He was not sure about the animals though.. It is supposed to rain this weekend and I plan on doing it then, I was just not sure how long my animals should stay off it.
Its probably safe after the rain melts it into the ground. However once you let the goats out into that fresh, sweet, newly growing grass pasture, you will not have grass any more. On the flip side of this, the goats will fertilize it for free.
