Hello, yesterday we banded our 9 week old buck, Buckwheat. We did our research and everything went easily but it’s been 24 hours and our boy seems a bit uncomfortable still. I checked everything out, it looks good, no teats are in the banding, it does look like the skin around the band is a bit puckered but that is it. I’ve googled images online to see what it should look like when properly done and ours is similar.

Just concerned because he’s limping a bit and just seems overall slightly uncomfortable. He is eating & drinking fine.

    Thanks!

If you have banamine, give him a shot, it will help with pain and swelling.

Sometimes it takes a few days for the area to go totally numb and not cause pain or discomfort. Banamine does help, as does walking him around to help numb the area more quickly.

I banded a bunch this week. Man, I hate having to do that. (just me whining).

I usually give banamine about 45. Minutes before I band, but if needed, I'll also give a dose the next day if a little guy seems miserable.
