OK...so, I soak grain overnight, drain and let it sit damp in container till evening, put into trays and load into the Costco shelf system that is set up with an auto waterer. It waters every 6 hours for 15 minutes. The trays are covered for 3 days and then uncovered for the remaining 5 days. I water with fresh water from a hose (thru my window)and into a pipe fit with small watering lines... and it drains down thru the trays to a tub at the bottom which has a drain pipe going out my wall down to the ground. I do 8 day wheat right now, but am going to pick up some barley tomorrow... I've had some issues with inconsistant wheat..
PacaPride has a good video on how he set up his system- a flood and drain system.
Let me know if I can answer any questions!

The 'rule' is 1 lb fodder per 100lbs of animal...more if lactating, preg. Etc... It took some getting used to for the goats, but they all eventually came around. I don't grow I'm the summer cause they go on pasture and it grows too much mold in the warm weather. I start with 2 1/2 lbs of grain per tray and it turns to apx. 10 lbs of fodder! And you can sprout other stuff like BOSS and corn,..

Keep offering...persistence. They are kinda choosy and don't like change. The mold mainly is an issue in the summer / warmth. If it stays between 60-70 degrees it should be fine. If you have good sprouting grain then it grows well. The folks at Pacapride grow in a room up above their barn. Also not in summer.
