I plan to band the bucklings born from my mixed does this fall. Which castrator would you recommend? I see Jeffers has their own brand name, but it makes me a bit nervous seeing it's $25 cheaper than the rest.

    Please and thank you.

thats the one I have - works good. Just is made of plastic instead of metal on the handles. But for a small herd they work out great.

since Stacey answered, I'll go off topic . . . how many does & doelings are you up to now? did you get Cozette and the other (can't remember her name!)?

Alright. I added it to my shopping cart in Jeffers. I'm up to $260, my husband might choke.

I'm picking up Cozette and Crescent Moon tomorrow. I'm hoping maybe since she's looking for "forever" homes for her "old gals" maybe she'll send someone else along as well. Wishful thinking. Other than that, I just have my 3 doelings here :) It's a process. I'm accumulating. lol

I know, I can't wait until she sends me pictures. I'm freaking in  with Voodoo and Charity. I'm hoping for flashy doelings from both of them, so cross your fingers :D

I bought the bander I have from TSC...Blue plastic handles and paid $13.00 for them. Also, when you buy that bag of 150 little green bands to go with the bander...put them in your freezer, they won't break down the way they can when left in the heat and will be like new when you have the need for just 1 or 2.

We had a calf bander left from when we used to raise cattle and used that. The bands are the same for calves as they are for goats...it worked like a charm! We have two perfectly wethered boys now!
