For those of you in goat associations, what is the purpose? Education? Making more of a profit? Something else? And how do you do this?

Like what kind of an association? I am a member of the ADGA, and the reason why I do it personally is because I know the value of registered goats, and also being able to know and study their genetics, ancestors, offsping, etc. Also, since I am a member of the ADGA I can participate in DHI and Linear appraisal.

I'm a member of AGS and NDGA...they have SO much info on what a goat , mini or not, should look like as well as the breed standards. If I had the time and the courage I would enjoy being able to show my goats and be able to breed for the standard...which I would still like to do providing my funds pick up and debt goes down!

I think she means goat associations as in American Meat Goat Association, ALBC (American Livestock Breeds Conservancy list, things like that
