I noticed yesterday that one of my goats was keeping his eye shut. I thought nothing of it, maybe he had a fly bothering him or there was something that irritated it as he was just rubbing his head on me. Today, the eye is a little runny with a little crusty yellow around the edges and he is still holding it closed. When I try to open it, he just keeps all the lids tightly shut. He is acting pretty much normal otherwise. Should I rinse with saline? Use a topical antibiotic, something like neosporin, or do I need something different? I am not quite sure how to tell if it might be pink eye or if he just got something stuck in it.

You are on the right track! Rinse with saline followed by neosporin or what ever antibiotic you have on hand.
Do this twice daily and continue a few days past when it looks cleared up.
