Goat in heat?

961 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Jandj
I bought this goat as pregnant due any day. That was just over a month ago and still no sign of babies.

I'm new to owning goat so I took the seller at their word. Well I noticed clear discharge from her after buying her. Then about 8 days latter she had more clear discharge. Now it has been 19 to 20 days of nothing. Then yesterday I noticed the clear discharge is back . I did read that she could be in heat. I put her with a buck yesterday and he was all over her but I never see them breed. Today the buck acts like she's not even there. Heat or not?

They can just simply have discharge. What breed? Most breeds are out of season right now. She doesn't look pregnant. Wait till fall and breed her.

She's a Nubian
Most Nubians don't breed until fall. He udder is poor and she may have blown teats. Does not look pregnant. If you plan on babies, make sure she can nurse and kids are latching well.

I'm new to goats and know nothing about blown teats. Is there something I should do for her?
