One of our goats got kicked in the neck by a donkey last week. It has swelling on one side of the neck. He is still eating, walking around etc. but seems to be in discomfort. Is there anything we should put on it? I did a Mullein and Lobelia herb poultice last night, and we put ice on it right after it happened.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Welcome Julia!

I would imagine a kick from anything would leave a bruise, a swelling that is noticeable could either be a hematoma ( poolong of blood in the tissue) or damage to the tissues, for people, a doctor would say to use ice for swelling but I think it would be hard to get a goat to stay still for ice pack therapy.

If the swelling has been there for the last week and has not gotten bigger I would suggest to just moniter him, if it has grown, you may need to have a vet tap it to drain it and start him on an antibiotic to ward off infection once the lump is opened.
