One of my goats developed mastitis yesterday, she was fine during the day but last night i noticed her looking droopy and I noticed one side of udder larger. It is not too hard but is painful. She has 2 1/2 month old triplets and has not been milked. I did squirt out a few streams and did not see any chunks. What is the best treatment for her since she still has the kids nursing.

She might not have mastitis ....I would milk her out some to make her more comfortable then have the kids nurse her.... she hurts because... it is to full......I would test for mastitis .....if you suspect it.....It really doesn't sound like mastitis if her milk isn't off she has no hard udder or it isn't hot.....

I agree, I would milk that side out and test it for mastitis. She may just be too full, but with triplets nursing her, I find it a bit hard to believe, but anything is possible. How are the kids? Do they seem hungry? Do they have the runs? How is her temp?
