I have friend she just texted and something got there goats last night all but one. I'm going to see if I can help her all I know is it's behind is messed up. Unfortunately my penicillin is expired but is that ok to use. I will look at my supplies to see of I have another antibiotic. I know if the wound is too bad I cannot help with stitches. Any advice. She said it's swollen bad. She doesn't know how to send pictures. As soon as I can I will post some. She said her udder is swollen as well.

Yes, while Pen would be better, use what you have. Be sure to give tetanus antitoxin before cleaning wounds. Very sorry this happened. It's also important to get the goat in a place she can feel safe, reduce stress and shock. Dexamethsone is good for shock.
B complex. Probiotics. Weak iodine to rinse

If all of her herd mates are gone, would she do better with another friend, happybleats ?

Wow. Sorry to hear. Happybleats is right. She may need to be placed in a smaller confined area. Poor baby. Be careful to just introduce a strange friend. You may need to put a barier between them.

I agree..I would hold off a friend as any new friend can cause stress under normal circumstances. She will already be pretty stressed.

I've been told that medications lose about 10% effectiveness each year after expiration. My sister (a medical doctor) advised me to use 10yr expired over the counter stuff rather than throw it out (this was big, coming from her).

Banamine helps with pain and swelling. A vet may prescribe it for her. Otherwise turmeric capsules can help and are likely available at Walgreens, CVS, Costco.

For lacerations, if there is enough hair, you can braid it or knot it tightly to keep a wound closed-- hard to do on a goat. Super glue on small ones work too with something holding it closed until glue dries.

So sorry. Good luck, and kudos to you for helping your friend!

You can use butterfly closures. Get them at walmart, Walgreens, most Rx places. Clean all wounds with providine/iodine mixed with water, looks like.light tea. Benamine will help calm and reduce fever& swelling.

Make sure all wounds are flushed well before attempting to close them. If you can get dexamethsone I would use it in place if banamine as it helps with shock as well. Some have used together in extreme cases.

Yep, Dex and flush it good. You don’t want to close up deep wounds you want them to heal (granulate) from the inside out. That way no bacteria gets trapped deep inside to fester. When Poppys mom got attacked I had to help her owner flush it daily for two weeks or more before the punctures were safe to leave it alone. Did they figure out what attacked her herd? Different bites need some different meds.

Y'all she had a baby last night!. She is fine now no wounds her udder is just full. The baby's head was completely gone and there is another baby goat dead in the other pen. I cannot unsee this! So sad!! I don't know where the other goats are most likely in the woods.

Oh no! I’m sorry. Now they know there’s food, they’ll keep coming back. Can y’all put up some hot wire and tall fencing? I hate coyotes, I use solar lights to flood my night pen with light when they detect movement. It helps keep them away.

Pretty sure they never get petted or anything. Probably never been wormed either. Not much I can do by myself.

Poor thing! You might shave down her udder to check for wounds. She’ll need to be milked out too.
