Today we took our 88% boer buck to the vet to be castrated. The vet tech said he was such a pretty buck and it was a shame to have him castrated (black and white paint with dappled moonspots on his neck). Then the vet came in with the sedation and said he had beautiful markings that would bred well with his does. The veterinarian bought our buck! Goliath got to remain a man and will go on to breed another herd this year. The vet's buck is very old so Goliath is his replacement. Dh got to make the decision since Goliath was his bottle baby, but he said he'd rather see him remain intact breeding does than be a wether. Must be a guy thing. :p

He sounds beautiful, I am really happy that you got MONEY from the vet instead of you giving HIM money.

Glad he gets to stay a buck.

Thank you guys! I got the money back that I paid for him as a buckling plus 7 bred does by him this fall. :) Yes, not used to the vet giving ME money!

As an added bit of irony, the vet's old buck passed away the night we took Goliath to his farm. He got the replacement at just the right time it seems!

Wow how bizarre is that? Sorry about the vet's buck passing :( At least he now has Goliath!
