Good Whether Weight?

I recently bought a 4 yr old whether, that I feel is under weight. However, I am new to goats. What is a good way to tell if he needs to put on weight or not? I have been keeping grass hay by him and my other goats for free choice, also, I have a mineral block along with pasture. Thanks!
