This winter is costing me dearly when it comes to the sums on my paychecks. Due to the frequency of snow storms that we have been having I have at times been unable to make it to work, much less out of the driveway. Thankfully everyone at work understands, and realizes that our country roads can really take a toll when bad weather rolls around. However one of my supervisor's lives in town within walking distance of Hardees, and I always feel like slapping him when he refuses to let me go home early due to bad weather. He just doesn't get the fact that when the weather is bad in town then it is always twice as bad out in the country. Be it fog or snow. I have experienced both. While he lives within a block from Hardees, I live 7 miles outside of town. There is a rather big difference.
I usually do make it into work, but there are those days where there is more risk trying to get to work then it's even worth. Ah well, sometimes those 'snow days' are the only days off that I receive anyway. I am working a straight week this week ... 45 hours total. Hey, at least those five hours overtime will make up for lost hours.
