My doe, Snowflake, is having an extremely heavy white discharge. My friend called me up because she witnessed Snowflake pee, and thick white goop came out. I came over as soon as I could (my goats are being boarded at her house for the moment) and took a look.

Her backend is caked with the dirty discharge and she showed me where Snowflake passed the goop.

She is not running a fever, color is good, she is eating, drinking, and fought me like crazy.

Could this just be a HEAVY heat? She is in with Buckly. He wasn't trying to breed her, didn't even seem interested in her really.

    Her backend:

I would keep your eye out to see how she is doing... she could have some kind of infection. It does not look like goo from normal heat. I would clean her off and wipe her down with betadine.

I did clean her up very good, and my friend will watch her very close and I'll be back over tomorrow.

Would she have a fever if she had an infection? She had a normal temp today. I will check again tomorrow.

Should I start her on Pen?

Kinda gross but... really bad yeast infection? I wouldn't give antibiotics and i would call a vet cause that dosen't look right at all.

No, she would not be pregnant.

I tested her for pregnancy when I brought her home and got negative results. She was separate from the buck the whole time up until about three days ago when they were put together.

One theory is that the buck became "over enthusiastic" with her and she was passing the results of that.

I am thinking maybe a combo of having a yeast infection, UTI or something on those lines and being bred. You just put her with bucks right? My Livi gets all kinds goop back their when bred then it goes away. But the stuff on the ground is why I was thinking infection of some sort as well?

That is so odd. I have never seen anything like that before. I agree though, possibly an infection. I would have the vet take a look just to make sure she's ok.

Ditto, better to get simple news then bad news way down the line.

    Re: HEAVY discharge

I would say either an infection or the buck mounted her and did his thing. If you dont get a doe walking right after they breed sometimes they will squat to pee and what the buck puts in comes right back out. sometimes its quite a large amount.

    Re: HEAVY discharge

I would not give her anything until she see's the vet. If it is a Yeast infection, giving a antibiotic can and more then likely will make it worse.

Does she strain to pee or grunt like it hurts?

Please let us know what they say. I have never seen anything like that before.
