Hello from the JK Ranch!

My husband and I started raise boer cross goats for meat two years ago. It's been a fun hobby for us on our 20 acre little ranch. We started out with 7 does and now have 19 does (4 home raised!!) we've had some interesting learning experiences and more to come! Could things we've learned the hard way;
- flushing does out before breeding is extremely important
- treat for coccidiosis
- don't expect a nine month old billy to cover a herd of does (3 out of 16 bred)
- proper shelter is essential

We've now branched out into sheep and have had success in our first year with 5 ewes; we had 11 babies this spring! Very thankful because our breeding program for the goats was not ideal...

Oh the joys :)
