Now that I am retired, I have decided that I would like to raise vegetables, chickens and goats out in the country. Not knowing anything, I spent the Summer working on a farm that raised vegetables for a market so I got some experience for growing vegetables. Still don't know anything about chickens and goats so I am hoping to pick up any information possible which led me to this site. This site seems to have a lot of information and helpful people so I am hoping to learn from all of you.
Welcome Barb_Jess from Seattle area! Glad you're with us, you will indeed learn alot, keep reading. My hub is from near Youngstown.
Welcome from North Central Ohio! Not sure where you are in Columbus but I will be moving a little north of Columbus to Cardington in the near future.
welcome from New Hampshire. I am learning every day and I haven't got my goats yet. Just chickens and ducks.
Welcome from Indiana! I hope someday that I can move to Columbus temporarily for college. I would like to attend Ohio State for veterinary medicine. I really liked the campus when I went back in May for their open house.
Welcome from West Central PA!! I have family in Amanda and Minerva There is a TON of info here... lots of reading, any questions you may have will be willingly answered
We retired a few years ago and although we have had horses, dogs and cats for a loooong time, we had not had goats. Once we got the place we wanted and took our sweet time fixing it up (read 5 years or so) we decided goats would be the next logical step for milk, meat, soap and all that. We knew nothing about goats but since being here we have learned lots and have a nice little herd of 6 evil little NG's that totally rule the farm. We love 'em to death and are thrilled with having them. Hang here and you'll learn more than you need to know plus get the pleasure of "pooch pics" And welcome to the family
Welcome! I am in PA right now but will be moving back to Ohio in June near Zanesville. Welcome to the forum. What kind of things are you wanting from your goats? Knowing what you want out of them might help you decide a breed for sure.
Welcome from Millersport, OH! We're about 30 min east of Columbus. This board is awesome. Glad to have you!
I am going to be needing both dairy and meat from goats. I think the Nigerian Dwarfs are adorable (dairy) but don't know enough to say what I will need yet. I have a lot to learn.
