Just wanted to introduce ourselves my wife and I along with our 2 boys are just starting into what the wife calls goat world. Currently we have 1 Boer doe who is expecting any day a kiko doe that just kidded last week and orphaned the kids. Its been a long 10 days. We also have a full blood Boer buck who is daddy to these kids. Finally we have a wether that our oldest just showed in his first 4h show. We have a little piece of land (7 acres) and have built our little cabin on it. I

Hi Welcome to the group!

Was your doe that rejected her kids a first time mom? Sometimes you will have to hold first time mommas and let the babies nurse. It may take a day or 2 of doing this.... but I've never had a doe not accept her kids after holding her so they can nurse. :)

Yes she was a first time mom.We were at the boys 4h sale barn when she kidded the only thing that saved them was our Great Pry who apparently cleaned them and kept them warm. We tried forcing the kids on her to no avail we have been milking and feeding.

Welcome! Your going to love in here with these folks. I'm having a great time without feeling foolish for being a goat newbie. I too have 4 goats. Like you, a buck (kiko) two does (kiko and a togg) and a wether (togg). Unlike you, I have no children. Think of all the buckets of water they could carry! Hmmmm! Welcome again and dont forget to show us some goatie pictures!
