Hello everybody. My wife Carol and I are in the midst of our third kidding season. We have fullblood Boers, Boer/Nubian cross, and one fullblood Nubian doe. Oh, and a 1 1/2 year old neutered Great Pyrenees named Cider. At present we have 15 breeding does and 1 buck. We have another 9 doelings waiting in the wings. So far this year 6 does have given us 11 more kids with 3 little girls and the rest boys. 5 other does will start to kid in about another month. The other 3 getting some time off. Our goal is to settle in with around 35-40 breeding does and 2 bucks. We sell most as meat but we also make goat milk soaps and lotions we sell at our farm store. We plan on making butter, cheese etc for our own use. Have also sold a handful as brush eating pets. Our only regret in raising goats is that we didn't start sooner. I'm looking forward to participating in the Goat Spot. See you soon. Dave.
Welcome to the group Dave, so glad you joined us. Sounds like you have lots of experience and will really be able to help out here.
Howdy Dave good to have another NWesterner here! Meat goats is an added bonus for sure! We're about 35 mi north of Seattle. Whereabouts in Oregon are you? Glad you found us!
Thank you all for the warm welcome. We live about 35 miles southwest of Eugene. Can't stay long this morning. On my way to meet someone we're buying heritage breed turkeys from. Twelve Bourbon Reds. We raised a couple last year for ourselves. Delicious. Our plan is to raise a few more this year to sell and if successful we'll get more next year. We raise as much of our own food as possible. We don't make much money yet but we eat very well. Again, thanks for the welcome. I love talking about goats. I'm glad I stumbled across this site. Take care everyone. Dave.
