Yes we do lots of dairy products. I haven't gotten into soap yet, I have 2 human children, 1 and 2 haha so haven't quite had the time!!2 Nigerians and 1 mini Alpine, all wethers. Another member in the group once playfully referred to my little herd as a monkhood. It so fits them and I really like that nickname alot. Lately, instead of the phrase, need to "whatever" with or for the goats, its with or for the monkhood now.
All of yours are dairy as well. Do you milk, make soap, cheese and other dairy products?
Hello to you as well! Thanks for commenting! I love talking to other crazy goat people hahaWelcome to the forum! Another hello with no help for you, all we have are pets.
That makes perfect sense. I have never had it explained so clearly lol thank you. How do you find what the preferred letter for the year is? I am assuming you just kind of keep track or do they post it somewhere?Ok, say your assigned sequence is ABC. So any goat born on your farm that you plan to register, you'd tattoo ABC in the goat's right ear.
In the left ear, you put the goat's individual identifier. It's up to you what to use, but ADGA usually has a preferred letter for each year, and then you'd put the kid's number. For this year, ADGA's preferred letter is "L." So the first kid would be L1, then L2, and so on.
Lol I will have to check there! And thanks for replying!Welcome Courtney ! Your paper work should have the letter indicating the year some where in the instructions. I have some registered Nubians but its been a while since I got them registered and don't remember exactly where the "aliphatic" letter is in the instructions. But I am an ole fart so my forgetfulness is expected.![]()
And you're not old, you're vintageLol I will have to check there! And thanks for replying!
That's right before antique, isn't it?:heehee:And you're not old, you're vintage![]()

For the tattoo set, I use the one Jeffer's sells. Not the more expensive Stone one, just the house brand one. I actually have two. One for my herd sequence, since that's always the same, and one for the individual kid numbers. Even with just a small handful of kids a year, it was a pain having to switch back and forth when I just had the one set. Also this way I have an extra set of letters/numbers, which has been handy.
