    hello,
i am thinking of changing my herdname, because - there are already 'RHR' boer goat herds, and i am a fairly new member, about 3 yrs, so not many of my boers are registered under my current "rhr" name..also , idont really like it, rock'n h ranch isnt something i would like when im older.

what do you think of these? (alaska themed)

    North Star Boer Goats
    Last Frontier Boer Goats
    Midnight Sun Boer Goats
    Big Dipper Boer Goats

    other ideas.....?

I liek them all. But keep in mind you can only put so many charecters in the goats registered name so keeping the herdname short gives you some more room to play.

I like all the names you have come up with... and they all suit so well seeing you are from Alaska.
30 letters seems to be the standard for registering names, I am not sure about USBGA though. I didn't know that when I registerd for my herd name (12 letters) or I would have made it just a bit shorter, but then it is not as long as some I have seen.

I like North Star Boer goats.

What street do you live on? I only ask because I like on Sweet rd, that is how I got Sweet Cashmere goats. (It is also because I think all my goats are sweet.).

It just so happens that I will be able to take that anywhere also.

I would have your herd name like

    North Star
    or Last Frontier
    Midnight Sun

And that way you can use it with other registries as well if you decide to go into other breeds. And you have more spaces for names

You can make all your signs and advertise as North Start Boer Goats but your herd name is North Star -- make sense

My herd name is End of the Line But my farm name is End of the Line Farm

i'm on Moose st. i already have a 'RHR Moose St. Calypso'. one of my 88% does.

i'm leaning towards north star or last frontier. ,

I plan on have a '________ Forget Me Not' doe out of calypso, seems like a stylish name.

thanks everyone! -that makes sense not to have 'boer goats' just in case.....

On ADGA can you see if a herdnae is taken? I used to be able to look but now I can't or else I'm just not finding the page. I want to register a name in spring.

    All those sound wonderful!

    Aroaura Borealous (sp)

    Last Frontier
    North Star...
    They are all good!!

Remember, you can condense them...NorthernLites heck you can even go NorthernLights....NorthStar....14 spaces or 9 spaces...you can name your kids without a whole lot of worries....dont know about any one else but we name our kids officially then a few months down the road wind up calling them something else!
