HERE THEY COME!!! ELLIE THE DUMPED DOE IS GONNA BE A MOMMA!

1327 Views 21 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  toth boer goats
How long would you say we have? Today our doe Ellie has been restless, talking to her kids inside of her - licking - some mucus discharge as in picture - and when out loose she kept heading back to the pen.

We are giving her some privacy tonight but at the ready - how long would anyone say?

I didn’t mean try to milk her. Just by the look. It can be an indicator to being real close, if the udder suddenly doubles in size, is down to the knees and looks shiny,

MadHouse - what are your thoughts on disbudding? We are trying to decide when the kids come and we know time is of the essence.

Personally I don’t disbud. If I was knew someone was going to buy a kid and needed it disbudded, I would take it to the vet. My own goats all have horns.

She's very very close, her tail looks floppy.
Loved the disclaimer on the second picture. Apparently, mucus is porn now lol.

I won't keep a horned goat on the property. They cause too much damage to fixtures, other animals (particularly poultry), and people.

We did not know what she was bred with since she came to us already preggo and we found her. Do you think it was a nigerian?

Nice, do you have b complex and selenium to give them?
If you do they need 1/4 cc of each, orally. Baby goats are born without these vitamins in their system.

Congratulations!!!
I hope they all have nursed by now, and you all got some sleep.
It is hard to know what Ellie was bred with, but the kids do look Nigerian Dwarf.
They are very cute!!! 🥰
Ellie is rejecting the runt or at least o think shes going to she keeps pushing him away and actually like she's gonna go after him. One of her udders is larger and we are gonna have to milk her out on that side. Right now they are all resting
I would pull the runt and feed him what you milk from her.
