Just wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I have some farmland in Northwest Connecticut. We started using Scottish Highland Cattle to help clear pastures for the horses shortly after moving in about 5 years ago. We have since added three boer does to our brush clearing crew, they are doing an excellant job!!!

We are not big time goat people (by that I mean we are not breeding, showing etc.) but we sure do love them. This forum seems like a great place to find knowledgeable information and I look forward to getting to know some of the people here.

Pleased to meet you Sara! Watch out, Boers (as owners of other breeds can testify) are addictive!

Nancy d, Yes I know they are addictive!! The farm we got them from is on the road to my husbands business and every spring when we drive by and all the kids it's so hard to resist the urge to get more. The problem is that the cattle, horses, and dogs are addictive too so I've been using every bit of will power that I can find to keep things from getting out of control for us. I'm sure we'll add more at some point though ;)

    Sara,

I took a look at the pics on your web page. Bk is such a cutie! I didn't realize boers came in solid colors. You have some nice looking animals there.

Things at Proctor Hill Farm must be pretty lively with all those little goats running around!!

One of our goats is actually up your way right now. She's at Tufts, ate some thing wrong but they are getting her all patched up and she should be coming home later this week :)) The vets and staff up there are awsome!!!

    Welcome Sara!

Having goaties to love while they clear pasture is a great way to become addicted to them! I have nigies and nigi/pygmy crosses, more pets than anything. My mom has a few boers as well as toggs and nigies to clear pasture for Angus...so far in the 5 years they've been in the fence they have done a great job on the trees!
