I've learned so much from this forum, I thought I should officially sign in. We (me, my husband, 2 boys, and MIL) live on a 5-acre hobby farm and last summer I brought home 2 Boer goats (doe and buck) and a Boer/Nubian cross doeling. We had never been around goats, so before I bought them I researched goats, found working goat farms to visit, and called the County Extension agent to come out and look over our farm. He was a great source of information! --Apparently, not many people call them and they have a lot of knowledge to share. He liked our farm--and fences, and helped me feel more confident about having goats. Well, about 2 weeks ago, Taffy, the 1/2 Nubian, lost her babies and we were so sad. But, we started milking her... We had planned to have meat goats, now we are thrilled to have a dairy goat! I think our lives might change forever! Now we want more dairy goats! LOL! I think the funniest part is that when we moved to this farm, there was a small goat dairy already on it. For years we thought of things we could do with the building, but now we are using it for it's intended purpose. :stars: Once a goat farm, always a goat farm...glad we are finally waking up to what we have. Thanks for letting me join this group! My name is Connie, and I have goats...
welcome.....Glad you learned a lot already from TGS..... :thumb: Sorry for the losses... But glad ...you love your dairy goats... "All" goats are loved here...... :thumb: :hi5:
Thank you for your kind words and your welcome, everyone. All that happened on my husband's birthday, too. I think it may go down on his "worst birthdays ever" list! --did I mention that our children also had the stomach flu and we were all supposed to lead a parade that day? LOL! Nothing went as planned...
