How do I use the Forum Functions?
The forum environment is richly blessed with user options to make your interaction easier. When you log on you will have the chance to check the “login automatically†box. Checking this box will log you in automatically each time you visit. Being logged in allows you to see photo’s and links in the messages and post replies. Logging in also allows you to keep track of the posts you have already read.
The system will log out any users after one hour for security reasons unless they checked the “login automatically†box. That could be an issue if you are writing a long post and get interrupted before you hit the submit button. If you suspect you have been logged out while writing a post make sure to copy it BEFORE you hit the submit button in case it prompts you to login again. Logging in again will delete the post you were typing. If you copied it, you can simply paste it back into a new reply instead of typing it all over again.
You will notice Red and Blue dots on the left side of each forum. Red means there are new posts in that forum that you have not read. Blue means you have already read all the available posts. See the legend at the bottom of the forum.
You can also use the “View Posts†options in the header. For example, clicking on the “View New Posts†link will give you a list of all new posts since your last visit along with the authors who wrote them. Once you have read all the posts inside of a topic the dot will turn blue. You have the option of marking everything as if you had read them by selecting the “Mark Forums Read†link on the right side. Selecting this option will turn all the dots blue till a new post is added.
There are also many options inside the "User Control Panel" available at the top right corner of the forum. Everything pertaining to your profile and personal message system is available inside there. You can add a signature to all your posts or add an Avatar (the small picture beside your name) by downloading it from your personal computer or selecting one from the gallery.
