Notre Lee came to me pregnant (the guy said she was with a buck for about three months) Within a few days after getting her, I went ahead and felt on her belly if I could feel kids moving and I did feel them moving which means that she would be about three months along, so I knew she would be due around March. Back on feb. 21 was when her udder first started developing (first picture). The second picture is from March 8th, her udder is obviously bigger, last three pics were taken today.
She is a first freshener and her ligaments disappear then come back then disappear then come back and have been doing that since Feb. 21. I have NO IDEA when she is due except that it would be possibly march and she's giving me such mixed signals.

They usually start developing an udder about a month before kidding as a rule of thumb. Look for a tight shiny udder and then you’ll know you’re really close.

Ok, ill keep a close eye on her, from start of development until now its been 22 days, next wednesday/thursday would make it about a month since first development.

Just remember with goats there’s nothing written in stone lol. They’ve never read the rules. It’s just indications.

Sooo I rubbed udder balm into her udder this morning and her udder was pretty hard but still had some ‘give’ to it
This evening her udder is hard and tight, though no milk in the teats yet, the edges of her vulva are turning outward.
I’m so confused yall, such mixed signals🤦‍♀️

Try not to check for milk. They have a special plug that keeps bacteria from entering the teats and causing mastitis.
It can be very frustrating without a due date, boy do I know this since I don’t have a single due date on any of mine this year lol but just try and watch for signs of labor. The udders are not always the best to go off of. I’ve had ones that looked like they would split in half for well over a month and have had ones that didn’t have much of anything until labor.

I didn't physically try to milk her, all I did was lightly pinch up top near her udder and gently squish her teats to feel if there was milk in them (i know not to milk before hand 😆 )

i always guess about a month, thats what im going off of with mine. I have two with dates and two without. one looks about the same time other looks closer. They get posty in the rear. sometimes they really drop, like they look fat then all of sudden looks skinny. If they are not that friendly they they all of sudden like you again that is a sign, or if they really like you then say nope dont touch me...or they could just drop kids when you are not looking

I try to respect her personal space but at the same time try to catch her at least twice a day to check udder, ligaments, and feel for baby movement. What do you mean by posty? She's walked really loose around the hips but stiff legged for about a month now.

the back legs are less angled. kind of like a cows back legs.

4-6 weeks from when the udder starts filling. Around 6 weeks if a FF and 4 weeks or so if kidded before. However, even then, if they just have a single it can be even later. But you can guess about a month or so from the time you see development.
