Can anyone tell me how many days (I assume it's not weeks) it takes for a feed change to affect the milk? My doe freshened in the Fall and the first few weeks her milk was fine. Since then I have been trying different combinations to improve the flavor. She is a Nubian/Sable Cross and I am beginning to think she is just "goaty". The flavor of the milk is fine, it's the smell it leaves in your nose if you make the mistake of exhaling after you take a drink. Right now she is eating good alfalfa hay sweet mix and dairy goat ration with a pinch of goat minerals on it. Thanks for your help! I love this web site-I read it alot, but being a fist timer I don't have much advice for everyone else. BUT this kidding DRAMA with Zee and Penny Lane has me hooked again!!

Normally it doesn't take but a few days if feed is a factor in making good milk...your doe may be just one of those that makes strong milk.
