I have offered for sale a large purebred Nubian buckling that was born on February 27th and someone is interested in purchasing him but would like to know how many does my buckling can cover this fall. The man has 45 does and would like my buckling to cover at least 20 of them. I don't keep a lot of does so this has never been an issue for me.
So, how many does can a buckling be expected to cover in his first year?

That is quite a few. I would think he would need to be sure that the buck stays in condition and feed him extra. Not sure how many is too many though since I have never had that many.

he should be fine with 20 as long as he doesnt expect him to do them all at once. our little nubian did 6 in 2 days last fall! i suspect he could have done more.

Technically he could cover all of them. Just put 10 does with him, let him breed then, give him a few days off, repeat. He can cover all the does if need be.

They could also pen a doe with him when they come in heat, and go down the line.
