Hi all

I’m going to vaccinate my goats and skip the vet this year. I want to learn to do it myself.

What size gauge needle do I need?
Is it subcutaneous? Best place to inject?
How many weeks after first shot before I do the booster? And then it’s yearly after that?

Thanks!! :)

I use 20ga 1in for everything, works like a charm. SQ, basically anywhere you can pull up a good tent of skin. Neck, side, upper rear leg, etc. Not entirely sure, but I think it's 2-3 weeks later that you give the booster. And then yearly.
Thank you so much! Do you know how many cc per lb?

Be sure and get the needle completely under the skin, not between the skin layers.
When you say under the skin and not between skin layers, what does that mean? You just pull up a flap of skin and go in there, right?

Just like in humans, there are layers to the skin of goats. You'd want to go all the way through to the subcutaneous layer.
