I’m currently handmilking 4 ND does and it takes about 15 minutes to milk all 4 but it usually ends up being around 30 minutes since I have to wait for the first two to finish eating before I can let the next two does in and then I have to wait until they finish eating. Going by my current numbers I will have 14 ND and two standard sized does to milk next season, so I need to find a way to speed up milking. I’ve had a Simple Pulse milk machine before but I had a hard time getting it to work and it took longer to clean it than it took to milk the goats.

Feed the does before you milk them, then just give a handful of feed while you milk. Maybe give alfalfa pellets or something, if you don't want them to be grained. I found that it just is easier if they don't have a lot of grain while on the stands. ( I milk 60-80- waiting for the slowpokes to finish eating takes way too much time!)

I think this is great advice, but personally I am amazed that y'all have goats that take a long time with their grain! I don't have a goat on this place who eats at a rate slower than "inhale."

I was gonna add, if you still have a simple pulse, you could get the attachment that does two goats at a time. The simple pulse manufacturers are really really helpful so if you need troubleshooting I'm sure they'd be glad to help.

Do you have a spot you could move them? I have a stall that I move my girls to finish their grain if not finished on the milkstand. Then I can keep it moving to milk.
