Ask me about horses and I'm all over it. Ask me about goats and I'm clueless. I have a registered LaMancha doe that I bought a few months ago. I realized that I never sent her transfer in. She is also pregnant. The breeder gave me the registration forms for the kids when then come and had them filled out as much as she could. Now when I looked at the membership form for the ADGA, it asks me for my tattoo preference for my herd. I won't use that tattoo on this year's kids right? The ADGA will provide me with the tattoo numbers to put on the kids? I have to do the same thing for my Boer doe. She needs transferred too and is being bred to a registered Boer. How do I register those kids? Furthermore, should I list my memberships as Jason & Tracy Foy & Family or what or both the Boer membership and ADGA? My LaMancha/Boer doe is bred to a Savanna, but I wasn't planning on doing anything with those kids except putting 1 in the freezer and possibly retaining a doeling as a commercial doe down the road. Lastly, I have a grade Alpine bred to a registered Saanen buck. Can I register those kids somehow? Also, I have a LaMancha doeling and a LaMancha/Saanen doeling that I was told I could get papers on. How does that work? Back in the day, you could register any mare as a Breeding Stock with the American Paint Horse Association and bred to a registered Paint stallion, her offspring would be eligible to be registered with the APHA. Is there a Breeding Stock registry for goats? Thanks in advance, but I’m clueless.
If all else fails, you could always call ADGA and have them walk you through everything. I'm about to send in papers on 3 goats, too, so we'll see how it goes.
