one of my alpines, maple, has been the hardest goat in the world to read! we took her to the buck dec 3, the end of december, in january, and then we tried a different buck in february. i was honestly beginning to think she wasn't ovulating :sigh: , because each time she would stand for the buck, and then she would come back into heat again.

so i clipped them this weekend, to find her udder is bigger than my girl due to kid this friday......

could she have gotten pregnant the first time i had her bred, which would put her due may 3, and kept coming back into blank heats or something??? i have NO IDEA what her deal is!

    thanks for your help!

it is possible. But she could also be bred later too. I have a doe who was bred on December 3rd and her 145 due date is in 19 days :)

    Bred december 3rd

From what I have heard, yes that is possible. I guess if she pulled a "five-day heat" then you count the second breeding date. But if she just kept "cycling" every month then it is very possibly she took on the first time. I think. . .

I have a couple does - I call them my Hussies. They'll stand for a buck any old time! Holly is the worst...Helen is a runner up. This is why I never really know they took until they start building their udders :sigh:

We had one doe once, who was bred every cycle for her entire pregnancy, she didnt bag up until 2 hrs before she kidded, and even then it was just a handful, until 10 min before she dropped her kid then her udder was bursting. I was dead set certain she was empty. She's def the weirdest one we've ever had.
