one of my buck kids is acting off.

Yesterday everyone was treated for coccidia with Baycox per routine (have cocci issues here).

last night I noticed Atreyu who is Angie's 6 week old buck kid, acting a bit sluggish but it was late at night so I knew I could have woken him up when I went out to feed so I made a mental note to watch him.

Today he isn't better. He is standing grinding his teeth. Temp is 100.4. I checked his sister's temp hers is 101.7

No nasal discharge, no eye discharge, no diarrhea. He isnt even that puffy.

Temps did recently drop but not drastically. Today its raining - rain started last night.

Todays high is suppose to be 58 degrees.

Could it be a tummy ache from treating him? Try probiotic paste and baking soda..... no grain ... give some good hay... he is still eating..Correct ? If not ...vit b complex will help with appetite....I would of suggested a dose of banamine it helps the gut and appetite...too...but ...with the temp so low... I wouldn't reccomend it....

    he is still not himself.

I would see if you can get him to nurse and watch to make sure he is getting milk. Have you checked mom's teats to see if the milk is flowing?

yes I milk her so I know she has milk.

Atreyu is the biggest kid he is huge compared to the others. I can bottle feed him too if i need to. But I dont think he will be interested at this point so I am not going to force the issue.

I kind of figured you would of checked that but I figured I would say it anyway.
Did you do a fecal float on him to check the Cocci count? Could he of gotten into some grain or anything? Have you tried some Pepto?

eye lid color is pink normal looking

for entero do they need to have diarrhea because he doesnt have any of that.

it has rained before since he was born so I dont think the rain is stressing him -- he is the strongest kid I have had and the others are just fine. Very odd.

no I didnt give any Bcomplex - waiting to see how the fastrack gel works

    ok update

I checked his temp again its up to 101.9
He seemed a bit excited about the bottle but as soon as he started to swallow he stopped and acted in pain. He was grinding his teeth when I went out there.

I gave him some stuff for his stomach

should I give him banamine now?

Can the cocci med make them constipated??? You know I'm not much help but just a thought. I also LOVE his name.

I wonder have you checked inside his mouth? He starts to eat then stops and grits his teeth? Could he have something scratched in there? Or maybe the cocci meds are somehow caustic?
Or maybe his tummy is upset and as soon as the milk hits his belly it hurts? Maybe Pepto?

I gave him Mayloxx already and that did nothing for his stomach that I could tell - I gave him a probiotic type stuff and that would also take care of anything in his stomach.

I did try to see inside his mouth but that didnt go well - its to tiny plus he was struggling against my openign his mouth.
