I was just doing a CL check today (I check CL almost daily, just to see whats out there) when I came across an add for dairy does and kids, so I just had to click. The add said that they had several Nubians and Sable does with kids for sale and gave a link to their website, so of course I clicked on that :sigh:
. Well in looking over their does for sale I was very sad to see the condition they were in. All of their hooves were overgrown and all the coats were rough. Then at the bottom of the page was a young doe and I thought "wow that looks just like my little girl Dewdrop". Then I noticed her name and realized she is my girls twin sister  . The poor thing looks awefull. She just kidded with a single buck yesterday, which means they bred her at four months old. They are lying about her age and saying that she was born 2-3-10, but she was really bred 4-5-10. They want $200 for her and her buckling. I really wish I could buy her, but my husband would kill me if I tried to bring another goat home. I'm just so sad that this girl wound up in such a yucky place. I had to share with people who would know how I feel. Thanks for being here. :tears:

Gosh, that is terrible. I'm so sorry! I wish you could get her back...do you know someone who could help you out and get her? I'll send a prayer that something works out to get her back or she finds a wonderful home.

She actually was never mine I bought her mother and sister, but Rain had already been sold by that time so I only got the two. I really don't know anyone around here that could possibly take her. Hopefully something good works out for her. Who knows, maybe my husband will suprise me and say "You must go get her!" I can always dream...

They are in NM. I don't like to publicly badmouth anyone, just because I figure that is bad for me too. I will PM you with a link though. I hope you can get her. Her mom is a real sweetheart and her sister has got a ton of potential. Thanks!

Id be interested to see also, However It would not be possible for me to get her and her new son. It is indeed awful to breed her at 4 months old, but it could have been accidental. I would have at least stated that on my website (I actually have with my doe Jade)

Well after a couple of days to cool down and a couple of second oppinions, I guess sho doesn't look that bad. Her feet look pretty aweful and she has a little fishtail going on, but she's not on deaths door or anything. However I think the breeding is what really upset me, and the fact that they are lying about her age to make it look better. I wouldn't have gotten any where near as upset if they just said there was an accedental breeding when she was four months if that was the case. So, I guess maybe I overreacted a little, but I can't help it when an animal that almost wound up with me ends up in a sad situation, it just makes me sad. I'm attaching a picture of her and another Sable doe from their site so you guys can see with out me linking everyone. Thanks to everyone for all the concern!

Her feet don't look all that bad to me. A bit of an elf toe on the back feet, but if her feet grow really fast, they may have missed a month. I've brought goats home with worse feet than that, but if she puts up more ads later down the road with them looking worse, I'd be very concerned.

Also, some people just get really embarrassed about accidents like young breeding, and would rather not say anything about it. If anything, these people just seem like people who need to learn more about goats in general.

Hopefully Rain (and the other goats) will be OK, and who knows? Maybe your husband will let you get her-even if just temporarily.

Well, I spoke to the breeder that I bought my girls from and she said that she knows the woman that has Rain very well. She says that the woman's goats tend to look a little rough this time of year, but are some of the healthiest, happiest goats she knows. She also said the breeding was an accident, and saddly the buckling passed away. The lady has discovered that Rain is an awesome milker and is thinking of holding onto her now. So I guess things aren't as they seemed and that Rain is probably just fine. I'm glad I talked to my friend and that Rain is better off than I thought. Thanks for the support and concern guys!

I have to agree - bothdoes don't look bad off at all.

Glad you got your mind set a ease about her situation.
