Hi, I was wondering for the best health and wellness for my goats while they are on pasture during the months of April/May through October/November, is it best if they always have access to dry hay at all times, or does it not really matter after the initial transition period in April when they go from 100% dry hay and slowly transition to pasture as things start to green up? Is it OK if they don't have any dry hay for 5 months or so while the pasture is actively growing, or should they always have some hay in their diet, regardless of how nutritious their green pasture is?

thanks!

I agree..unless you have a variety of browse type foods then keeping hay for them is best.

they do have a lot of forbs and weeds to choose from, in addition to grass and clover. they don't have a whole lot of shrubby browse in their pasture though, so probably would be a good idea to have hay as well.

thanks
