I always think of crazy ideas/theories when I'm stuck in school..
I've heard about keeping minerals with goats at shows so they lick them- get thirsty-drink water-increase production. If you were to sprinkle say salt on their grain (not alot, but a little bit.) would that work in a similar way? Of course it wouldn't offer what minerals would to the does. Don't worry, it won't hurt my feelings if anyone says that this is a completely idiotic, stupid idea.

Salt is an important part of milk production but instead of putting it on their ration, try offering it in your hand before you milk... I have a small white brick available to mine as well as minerals but most often when I put salt in my hand, they all want it :)

I find my goats have milked more at shows because I am there all day to care for them. Give them fresh hay and water.

The best things I have found to increase production.

Not too much competition (keep numbers low)

Fresh water often and slightly warm water in winter.

Baking soda and fans in summer.

Alfalfa

18% protein in the peak period.

regular milking 12 hours apart.

Try this experiment sometime:

Milk 3 days normally and then 3 days exactly at 12 hours, give them fresh water 4x a day in clean buckets and alfalfa hay 3x a day.
