After my daughter's new Ober doe's ketosis battle and then a bout with a cough, Ember is finally on the mend. We were able to fetch her from the breeder and transport her and her son to the school farm. There were originally twin boys, but one was injured by a doe sharing the same barn space and he died. :(

Here's Ember. She's two years old and was a second freshener with her boys.

Here's her remaining buckling, Tristan. Born 1/26/09.

We're glad to have them. Ember's a great mom and Tristan is so cute we can hardly stand it. In a few weeks, we'll be getting an Ober doeling, too.

Thanks, Stacey. Ember is a very nice doe. She's so easy to get along with. Great on the milkstand, unless she's worried about her boy. If she hears him and can't see him, she gets uneasy. Very possessive of that little one.

Now it's up to us to make her comfortable and settled in. So far, so good.

She's staying with us, but he'll be up for sale when he's weaned. The school can't really keep a buck. While we have him, though, he's going to be loved and enjoyed -- and spoiled, no doubt.

    Thanks for your best wishes.
