IO is 145 today (well almost 146 in about an hour) and is in early labor- ligs are just about gone, a tiny shred of one left. She's been off all day, and her udder got even fuller. She is talking talking talking and has that tail so curled over her back. No contractions that I can see yet, but going back to check on her in a few hours when I get up to tube feed our poor lil buckling. Whatcha think? This is her second freshening. ray: :girl: :girl: :boy:
Re: IO Kidding Soon- pics added I'll say trips or maybe even quads due to the size of that udder and she has dropped so she looks smaller than I bet she was a week or so ago. Good luck!!!!
Re: IO Kidding Soon- pics added IO kidded this morning at 10 am. She had triplets (BIG HEALTHY ONES) :boy: :boy: :girl: The first buckling is black and literally COVERED in silver and brown moonspots. He is also more than likely polled Second buckling is black and white with frosting and a big ol moonspot on his inner thigh The doeling is a flashy what looks like buckskin smothered in white and roaning with silver ears. It was the strangest kidding yet. I got there this morning to feed and she was talking talking talking and wanted out of her kidding pen, I said no way, your havin babies, today now get on with it. I did my chores and kept checking her. Her udder was going to burst from the looks of it and her hind end mushy. NO contractions, at all, just screaming at me and begging to get out of her stall. So before I left to pick up my son, I thought on a whim, let me check her, maybe something is wrong. So I check her, and yep there is definately a baby working its way down! I investigate a little bit to see maybe if hes stuck, but hes just far enough back that I couldnt get a good feel without really going in. No sooner than I take my fingers out, she has a contraction and plops herself down to push. They all came without issue- I guess she really wanted to make sure I was there for the event. :slapfloor: So the morning is bittersweet- we let our little tube baby go, but we were blessed with BIG healthy triplets. (with color I cant complain about!) Uploading pictures....
We are going to hang onto the doeling for now the black and white is sold as a wether and I have reservations for more wethers- but Im thinking of selling the moonspotted boy as a buckling. The doe is named Keroessa and the moonspotted boy is named Jupiter i and the wether- his new family will name him
I do the same thing. I wait to band my boys unless I know they are sold as wethers. Then I try to sell them as buck if I think they are buck quality. Congratulations on keeping that doe, she sure is a keeper.
I am really blown away by IO's udder- I think she could use a little more division, and her teats could be placed a bit better- but the buck she is bred to should correct those faults and then some- we saw his littermate sister freshen and she is really strong in those areas, so we will see!
Congratulations on the three! :stars: 1st one is very eye catching-something about that black and brown. Pics are just precious, have that looking at the world for the first time feel. :thumb: to momma and great about being pleased with the udder.
Oh MY gosh!!! Thank GOD you are on the otherside of the US!!! They are gorgeous - Congrats! I would snatch up that doeling in a heartbeat!
GORGEOUS kids! Congratulations on a very healthy delivery! :leap: Sorry you lost the little buckling, he's in a better place now
