What does it mean to be in rut? My Billy smelled like a Billy when I got him in Jan.then the smell went away completely. Last week I noticed the faint smell coming back. Does it mean it breeding time? I thought billies could breed anytime? Ive had a lady in w him since june 28 but i havent noticed any interest in either. I thought she was pregnant by him last year turned not to be. Other does were. Wondering if she might be sterile?....

yes it's time of year!! yes he can bred any time but as fall approahes bucks go into rut like deer attracting as many doe as possible. it's just nature. and some does do not cycle all year it depends on the breed and your weather.
