Hi all, I have a Nubian doe who is almost two. I have been trying to get her bred, and she has been in with the buck for quite some time now. The buck is also very young, but I have finally seen some breeding behavior, just not sure how to know if it was successful. On Sunday I was very surprised to find her vulva extremely red and swollen. Is that a sign of pregnancy, or is something wrong with her? It looks pretty bad. I’ll attach a photo of it. Any thoughts?

Has she had a white drip at all recently?

Yes, I saw him mounting her about two-three weeks ago when she came into heat. And yes, she has had a white drip, mostly around the time she was in heat.

She shouldn’t still be swollen unless she is coming in heat again.
Or has she been swollen this whole time?

No, that isn't normal heat type swelling. There's a problem.

She needs something for swelling. I'd be giving her a shot of Banamine.

Over the counter hemorrhoid ointment- used for people - you can get it at any drug store.

Ok, thanks! I might have to try that. I'm kinda getting worried about her, as it's not getting any better. I don't think I mentioned this, but it also seems really sensitive. I tried applying an antiseptic spray, and that seemed to cause a lot of pain. She wouldn't even let me near her after that! And she also keeps her tail pinned down, but wags it a lot.

If the antiseptic spray was alcohol based, that's the reason it was so painful to such a sensitive area. The Lady Bits is not an area for antiseptic spray/lotion/cream unless it is completely void of alcohol and also safe for use on mucus membranes.
