That's a camellia. It's safe.

Looks like a Camelia bush to me. Not sure about the toxicity of it.

For future questions - someone told me about a FB group called Plant Identification - you put a picture on there and the group helps identify it. I've used it a couple times. One time, I posted a tree and there was a big hubub if a tree was a plant or not....but they helped identify it!
