Issues re registering an AGS buck with ADGA

882 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  IHEARTGOATS
I am so very frustrated with ADGA. I have spent months trying to get my Nigerian Dwarf buck re registered as ADGA. I have sent my original AGS certificate in with application and fees and hear nothing. I cannot get babies registered ever since they changed to their new computer system.

I get the obligatory stamped copy of the application for babies I have submitted for registry (one is now over a year past due). I call every few weeks to see if anyone can give me an indication when the "known issues" will be resolved. But no one ever has an answer. I have some lovely babies and am almost considering culling the ones that are not yet registered because I am at a loss as to what to do. I have worked so hard to get my small herd put together. I have invested in this business and finally found an ADGA Woodbridge buck that I plan to use going forward. But love my AGS buck also. The registration of 5 retained does hinges on my AGS buck being re registered and quite honestly I am ready to give up . Does anyone know what to do. Regards Jenny

I think you can start some type of complaint/problem ticket online.

ADGA is so backed up with complaint/problem tickets they are not getting taken care of. I have several kids born from my buck whose application was sent in by the breeder a year ago. Still haven't received the papers or even an acknowledgement that the application was received. I traded a doe from the same breeder back to her after the des dam died. I sent the transfer in over a year ago and she is still in my name. The breeder and I have sent several complaint tickets in, calls, emails etc and this problem is still not resolved.

The breeder finally gave up and sent the bucks application to AGS so at least I can sell the first batch of kids, who are almost 4 months old. I had buyers, but they wanted the applications for the kids, and I don't blame them, so I lost the sales. I am losing money because of ADGA and their new stupid, useless computer system.

We stuck with breeding mini lamancha this year and will again next season and work with MDGA. One of my bucks is AGS and have not used him on registered girls yet.
ADGA is such a mess. I'm sure employees there are just as frustrated but I won't deal with them until they are fixed.
I have put the tickets in several times and wouldn't you know. I have not had a response to those. Its just another frustrating problem to deal with. I just want someone from ADGA to put in writing that goats that are registered with any other registry will not be able to be registered with ADGA. Once I (and I'm sure other breeders) see that I will stop calling and bothering them. It is the limbo stage of not knowing that is frustrating. I have stopped using my AGS buck in the meantime and will sell my babies out of him with their applications to ADGA that have been stamped received with the understanding that ADGA may take several years to solve their computer issues and send actual hard copy papers. Or just register all my ADGA goats with AGS and/or NDGA and have triple and double registered goats.

Probably better off sticking with AGS.
Can you register ADGA goats with AGS? I have a bunch of goats that need registering and I’m hesitant to do so for exactly the same reasons. If ADGA is going to continue to be like this, I’d rather switch over.
Yes, ADGA goats can be dual registered with AGS. ADGA is still a mess and support tickets sit in queue for ages before they're answered. Some people have had luck contacting directors (not necessarily from their own district) to get issues resolved.

If you are a member of ADGA, talk to your district director. Anyone that I know of that has had a problem like you describe, was able to get our district director to help clear up. I'm in District 3.

The backlog is of pending registration work was supposed to be cleared up by the end of March.

We haven't had any problems registering our kids online going back to last year. Of course, registering an AGS animal is different. I really hate to hear you have had a problem.
